Alpine Throne Room was created as a response to the complete awe that I feel being high up in alpine wilderness, and witnessing Mountain Goats in their majestic home as they look over their kingdom from lofty rocky crags. These high altitudes, in and above the clouds, rarify elements and create specialized ecosystems adapted to harsh wind and strong light. Three of the plants in this painting which most captivate me from these ecosystems are White Pasqueflower, Elk Thistle, Cushion Buckwheat. Also included is Bear Canyon Agate, which is found in Montana.
